Welcome to Oslo,Norway
Welcome to Oslo,Norway
Oslo is a county and municipality, as well as the capital and largest city in Norway. Oslo was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Founded around 1048 by King Harald III "Hardraade" of Norway, the city was largely destroyed by a fire in 1624. The Danish--Norwegian king Christian IV moved and rebuilt the city closer to Akershus fortress, as Christiania (briefly also spelt Kristiania). In 1925 the city reclaimed its original Norwegian name, Oslo. The diocese of Oslo is one of the five original dioceses in Norway, which originated around the year 1070. Oslo is the cultural, scientific, economic and governmental centre of Norway. The city is also a hub of Norwegian trade, banking, industry and shipping. It is an important centre for maritime industries and maritime trade in Europe. The city is home to many companies within the maritime sector, some of them are amongst the world's largest shipping companies, shipbrokers and maritime insurance brokers. Oslo is a pilot city of the Council of Europe and the European Commission intercultural cities programme.

NORWAY - Nico Wilhelm Jungmann
NORWAY - Nico Wilhelm Jungmann
Nico Wilhelm Jungmann (Amsterdam, February 5, 1872 - London, August 14, 1935), also known as Nico Jungman, was a Dutch painter of landscapes and figural subjects. He was also a book-illustrator and decorator. Jungmann studied with a church painter and also at the Royal Academy, Amsterdam. He came to London about 1893 on a scholarship and became a naturalized British subject, returning to Holland frequently, to paint in Volendam. As a naturalised Briton, he was interned by German forces during the First World War, which led eventually to the break-up of his marriage. Jungmann made several painting excursions to Brittany and Holland with his friend and fellow-painter Charles W. Bartlett. In 1900 Jungman married Beatrice Mackay, and they had three children, Loyd, Zita and Theresa (baby), divorcing in 1918. Beatrice remarried to Richard Guinness (from the banking branch of the Guinness family), as his second wife. Loyd had two children, Richard and Stewart. Zita and Teresa became famous as "Bright Young People" in the 1920s. Zita lived to 102 and was the subject of many obituaries. Teresa, known as "Baby", married Graham Cuthbertson in 1940 and had two children, Penelope and Richard. Like her sister she also lived to 102. Sissel Kyrkjebö - "Tristezze"
